Apart from redevelopment of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a world-class medical university, establishing the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) headquarters, and constructing an electricity sub-station at Kashmere Gate for Delhi Metro, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) finalized its decision and cleared the way for a first-of-its-kind e-waste management park in the national capital on Tuesday.

The final sanction was given for the change of land use for a 21-acre plot from "residential" to "utility" to set up the environmental park at Holambi Kalan village in Narela during the meeting, which was the first to be presided over by lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, who is also the DDA chairman. The goal was to manage e-waste in Delhi through organized recycling, making sure that all used electronic and electrical equipment was gathered, stored, disassembled, and recycled in a sustainable way.

The Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry will now receive the authorized final recommendations for final notification after public notices asking public comments and suggestions for the change were published.

The proposal to allow the rebuilding of the AIIMS campus, which spans about 197 acres, into a "world-class medical university," also received approval from the authority. The proposal includes new hostel buildings, an academic and research complex with space for numerous graduate and postgraduate programs, and a new hospital with 3,000 beds. In order to ease the installation of the National Emergency Communication Plan, the government also modified the land use of a 1.7-acre property in Vasant Vihar for the purpose of creating the NDRF headquarters and also a land-use change was made in zone O in order to build an electric sub-station at Kashmere Gate that will help power the trains of the Delhi Metro.
